  exJW Psychology 103--Let's Reconsider "Confidentiality"

  over the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.

  " although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.

  it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

  Just bumping this thread back up to add a fairly recent observation...

  I think the fact that I'd confided the details to nonJWs was something that scared the elders. I'd actually told very few people, but when they found out that I was fully willing and able to tell everyone, the elders were frozen to try anything. It was a small town, where the juicier the story, the faster it spread. In a very short time back from bethel, I'd already gotten to know the local attorneys... and judges... and police... and members of probably every church in town... and every gossip in town as well.

  The reason I finally noticed this fact?... Although I live away in the big city now, I still have facebook friends from the small town including local attorneys, business owners, etc.

  One of the things I learned in bethel: It's not necessarily what you know, but who you know. And I'm not an in-your-face kind of person or a "social butterfly" at all. I was told that I was more of a strike-up-an-interesting-conversation kind of guy that could share a laugh. So after I had a handle on that in the bethel environment, it was easy to get to know some of the really good "worldly people".

  I don't know if this observation is of any value to anyone else. Maybe it's just a small town situation.

  they were just at my door and offered it to me with one of their heartless and scripted presentations.

  the religion has just become so dumbed down.

  JWs left about 10 Minutes Ago

  i'm visiting my brother and his family in virginia for thanksgiving.

  as i was looking out the kitchen window today, saturday, waiting for my sister-in-law to finish talking with my niece on the phone, i noticed an older couple in thick coats going to different houses in the cul-de-sac.

  as i was watching the older couple and thinking about what i would do if they rang the door where i was and if they were jws, the door rang.. at the door were two older african-american women.

  Door-to-door religion pamphleteers, that seems as 19th century as blood-letting.

  And like I was taught, you should stay away from flea markets. You'll have problems with demonz if you get something there.

  So what types of people actually flourish under the JW regime?

  i sure as eggs know which types don't:.

  creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a jw one simply doesn't have time.

  since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or fs results it's considered useless anyway.

  I worked around some of the artistic-types that were in bethel for artwork and music. Many of the artists were so tired of doing mandated artwork of "paradise" or "bible" scenes. Music had to be "just so"... as in just so blah.

  Mention of "ambitious" reminds me of an unexpected article that helped wake me up. Awake!, June 8, 2005, "The Bible's Viewpoint--Is It Wrong to Be Ambitious?" In there it has headings "Humility Leads to Exaltation" and "True Christian Avoid Ambition." It was a true WTF moment for me. Everything I saw about GB 2.0 was about ambition, not humility. I couldn't say that any of them were particularly smart, spiritual, or worthy. Their sole qualification was that they could nibble and sip once a year and fool people into thinking that they were legit. The WT structure with GB, branch committees, DOs, COs, elders, MSs, and the rest of the JW pecking order is about being ambitious and pushing oneself ahead. Humility? That's just a fake mask to conceal the deep-seated desire that is programmed into every JW... they are taught to pray for the murder of billions of innocent people that don't belong to their crazy cult.

  circuit overseers, of course!

  if satan is the #1 apostate, and apostates are not to be talked to, why then did jesus even talk to him?.

  why did jesus, if he is supposed to be our example, even talk to him?.

  why doesn't the bible say "and satan tried to talk to jesus, and jesus ignored him.

  It wasn't just that Jesus spoke to Satan, the bible explains their dialogue and it was Satan that supposedly scurried away, defeated.

  In Watchtowerland, dealings with "apostates" should not occur, and if it does, it dare not be recorded for anyone to hear or read. And we all know what happens when a JW encounters someone that is knowledgable and disagrees with them... it's the JWs that scurry away, defeated, like vampires that just saw a garlic-flavored cross emitting sunlight.

  JWs behave nothing like the biblical Jesus who taught that love rules. Instead, they present themselves as "angels of light" when actually they are wolves in sheep's skin. They offer nothing but slavery to oppressive Watchtower-based rules and false prophecies of a paradise which never arrives.

  Congrats!

  Industrial engineering was an excellent choice. For that matter, mechanical engineering is also an excellent choice. Pioneering would have been a terrible choice, trust me on that.
